Dr. Kirk Maynard

kirk 216x300 Dr. Kirk Maynard“One of the core values of the Air Force is service,” says the Illinois native who was stationed at Offutt Air Force when he retired after a 23-year stint in defending America. “I try to bring that same level of dedication to serving our friends here at Malbar. I’m no longer preparing pilots to have the best possible vision for their missions, but we like to treat each customer as though their needs are equally vital, equally important.”

Maynard twice won Optometrist of the Year honors in the Air Force, once for the Military Airlift Command and again for Air Combat Command

  • Received his bachelor’s degree in biology from North Central College in Naperville, Illinois
  • Went on to earn his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago
  • While in the Air Force he directed a number of clinical internship programs and held adjunct clinical faculty positions with Ferris State College of Optometry, Indiana University College of Optometry, University of Houston College of Optometry, and the Illinois College of Optometry
  • Was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the commander of an Air Force field hospital
  • Was the sole optometrist in a humanitarian medical mission where a team of medical professionals brought health care to the indigent people of Jamaica
  • Is a member of the Nebraska Optometric Association, a life member of the Armed Forces Optometric Society, and has been a member of the American Optometric Association for over 25 years
  • Has been a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry since 1994

Dr. Maynard and his wife, Cynthia, have two children. His hobby of antique clock collecting and restoration fills any spare time and he is a life member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.
