Dr. Cameron Bargell
Cameron Bargell, O.D. completed his undergraduate degree at Hastings College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. He went on to attend Indiana University where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2021. Dr. Bargell enjoys treating patients of all ages who present a variety of eye conditions. Every patient visit is unique and brings new and exciting challenges each day.
Since becoming an Optometrist, his fields of special interest include contact lenses and myopia control. Dr. Bargell began wearing contact lenses at a young age and remembers struggling with proper contact lens hygiene. After being treated by an optometrist for corneal ulcers, his personal experience reinforced his growing interest in the eyecare profession.
In his time away from the office, Dr. Bargell enjoys spending time with his wife, their family, and friends, as well as playing golf, watching Husker football, and traveling.
Dr. Brian Cain
Brian Cain, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from Salus University’s Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2004 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Dr. Cain became interested in optometry as a career after learning that his grandfather had developed macular degeneration.
Dr. Cain particularly enjoys being able to educate his patients and assist them in identifying and treating their visual needs. He feels that being able to provide someone with their sharpest vision possible to ensure they experience a lifetime of good vision is a most rewarding experience.
Dr. Stephen Felt
Dr. Stephen Felt completed his undergraduate schooling at the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in biology. He furthered his education by obtaining a Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Houston College of Optometry. He performed an academic rotation at Evens Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson, Colorado as well as a medical rotation at the Omaha Eye and Laser Institute. While not in the office Dr. Felt enjoys cheering on his son in youth sports and spending time outdoors.
Dr. Douglass Fruin
Dr. Douglass Fruin graduated from college with a degree in biology from Hastings University. He furthered his education by obtaining a Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. Dr. Fruin interest in photography plus his passion for the sciences lead him to the study of optometry. “They eye acts as a camera for us, and I want to get people to see as well as they can and keep it that way.” “It’s always the most rewarding when it’s a difficult case. A patient that maybe hasn’t been able to see and they really don’t know why. When you give them an answer as to why, and if they can get better, seeing the relief or joy spread across their face makes it all worth it.” Outside of work Dr. Fruin enjoys reading and listening to podcasts, as well as spending time outside golfing and biking. He also loves spending time with friends and family.
Dr. Valerie Leff
Dr. Valerie Leff completed her undergraduate education at the University of Northern Iowa where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She furthered her education by obtaining a Doctorate of Optometry degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis, graduating at the top of her class! Dr. Leff always had a passion for learning and healthcare. After she discovered the field of optometry, she knew she was meant to be an optometrist. Dr. Leff believes that “vision is such an amazing thing, and I wanted to be able to make a difference in patients’ lives.” Outside of work Dr. Leff enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, and swimming! She also loves to spend time with her husband and dog.
Dr. Kirk Maynard
Dr. Kirk Maynard completed his undergraduate schooling at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in biology. He furthered his education by obtaining a Doctorate of Optometry from the Ilinois College of Optometry in Chicago. Dr. Maynard spent 23 years serving his country in the Air Force. He twice won Optometrist of the year honors in the Air Force. While in the Air Force Dr. Maynard directed a number of clinical internship programs and held adjunct clinical faculty positions with Ferris State College of Optometry, Indiana University College of Optometry, University of Houston College of Optometry, and the Illinois College of Optometry. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his wife, Cynthia and his two children.
Dr. Trevor Schramm
Dr. Trevor Schramm completed his undergraduate schooling at the University of Nebraska at Kearney where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science. He furthered his education by obtaining a Doctorate of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.
Dr. Schramm has been wearing glasses since kindergarten, which started his path towards optometry. “I knew I wanted to go into healthcare so I could help others and as I looked into other healthcare professions, I was always drawn back to optometry.”
Dr. Schramm enjoys the one-on-one relationships with patients and helping them see the world more clearly. Outside of work Dr. Schramm enjoys watching many different sporting events, while also playing basketball, biking, and golfing.
Dr. Larry Malashock
Dr. Larry Malashock completed his undergraduate schooling at the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he earned a Bachelor of General Studies. He furthered his education by obtaining a Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry. He has been practicing solely at Malbar Vision since July 1984. Dr. Malashock knew from an early age that he wanted to follow his father’s footsteps and become an optometrist. He truly enjoys educating patients about their eye health and helping them differentiate between functional and health conditions without searching the web. It also gives him the opportunity to improve his patients’ lives. Outside of work, Dr. Malashock enjoys spending time with his grandsons, reading about the Civil War period, and attending Husker games!
